The story

From a coach’s kid to coaching.

I grew up in Ogdensburg, New York, as the son of a coach, which gave me a unique perspective from an early age. I had the opportunity to see the good, the bad, and the ugly of athletics from behind the curtain—from a coach’s perspective—and that experience shaped the way I view sports, competition, leadership, and athlete development.

As an athlete at Ogdensburg Free Academy, I played football, basketball, and baseball before later competing in track and field. I went on to play college football at Saint Lawrence University, where I earned UCAA Rookie of the Year honors as well as First and Second Team All-League recognition. After transferring to Alfred University, I continued to develop as a player, earning First Team All-League honors as a return specialist and Second Team All-League honors as a wide receiver. I still hold Alfred’s school record for punt return yards in a season, a record that has stood since 2004.

My playing career eventually led me into teaching and coaching. I began my career in Sahuarita, Arizona, where I taught history and became the first head football coach in the school’s history. In just the program’s early years, we reached the playoffs for the first time in school history, and I was nominated for Southern Arizona Coach of the Year.

3 S Training

Why 3 S Training is different.

In 2016, I founded 3 S Training while also serving as an assistant football coach at Hamilton College for two years. Wanting to further understand the science behind athletic performance, I returned to school and earned my master’s degree in Exercise Science. I then completed the NCAA-required Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification and became the Strength and Conditioning Coach at SUNY Potsdam. In that role, I coordinate strength and conditioning programs for all 16 of the university’s NCAA intercollegiate sports.

What makes 3 S Training different is the perspective behind it. I have experienced athletic development from multiple sides of the equation: as a player who competed at a high level in college, as a coach who has worked at both the high school and college levels, and as a strength and conditioning professional who understands the science behind performance.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to help North Country athletes achieve their goals at the high school and collegiate levels, while also helping several athletes reach the professional level. Every athlete has a different starting point, different goals, and different path to success. My goal through 3 S Training is to provide athletes with the knowledge, training, accountability, and perspective they need to maximize their potential—not just as athletes, but as people.

3 S Training is built on experience, education, and a genuine commitment to helping athletes become the best version of themselves.
